The museum not only houses ancient sculptures, but also a wealth of paintings and crafts, covering multiple historical periods from the classical era to the Renaissance. Interactive displays and multimedia tours in the museum help visitors better understand the historical background and artistic value of the exhibits.
12. Piazza Navona
Rome has no shortage of great squares, and Piazza Navona (Italian: Piazza Navona), with its unique Baroque architectural decorations, is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and popular squares.

This large tourist square is located next to the Pantheon and the Roman Museum and is located on the site of the former Stadium of Domitian, where athletics competitions were held in ancient Rome. It is a very lively and cozy square where many artists show their works to tourists or perform street performances. You can sit on the terraces of cafes and restaurants around the square and enjoy the spectacular scene and unique atmosphere.
However, Piazza Navona is most famous for its three magnificent fountains:
- Designed by Bernini (or Le Bernin) in the mid-17th century, the Fountain of the Four Rivers (Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi) stands in the center of the square and is one of the city’s most famous monuments.
- The Fountain of Neptune (Fontana del Nettuno) on the north side of the square
- The Moorish Fountain (Fontana del Moro), designed by Giacomo della Porta in the 16th century.
There are also many excellent historical buildings around Piazza Navona, including Palazzo Pamphilj and the Church of St. Agnes in Agone.
13. Trevi Fountain
The Trevi Fountain (Italian: Fontana di Trevi) is the largest and most symbolic fountain in the Italian capital. Millions of tourists come every year to admire it and throw coins into the fountain to make wishes.
This Baroque fountain, located on the rear facade of the Palazzo Poli in Piazza Trevi, was built by Bernini in the 18th century at the request of Pope Clement II. Standing 26 meters high and 20 meters wide, this monumental fountain is themed around Neptune, the god of the sea, standing under the Arc de Triomphe, and is often considered the most beautiful fountain in the world. In fact, I recommend visiting it twice during your visit to Rome, once during the day and once at night, as it is best lit at night.
