13 must-see attractions in Valencia

7. Valencia Cathedral

The Cathedral of Valencia (Spanish: Iglesia Catedral-Basílica Metropolitana de la Asunción de Nuestra Señora de Valencia) is located in Plaza Reina and is a breathtaking building. Although the building is mainly Gothic, it has undergone several renovations (Gothic, Romanesque and Baroque) and is a fusion of many styles. The chapels, stained glass windows and paintings are all witnesses to its rich history.

The cathedral has a long history. It was originally a Roman temple, then converted into a church by Spanish Christians, and then into a mosque by Muslims during the Spanish conquest. After the reconquest, it became a cathedral again. It was even restored in the 17th and 18th centuries.
