Today it is a lively square where you can find several terraces, bars and restaurants where you can, for example, try the delicious chocolate cookie. The square is surrounded by shopping streets such as Alcacería, which is perfect to visit during the day or at night!
12. Alcácería Market
During the Islamic occupation of Granada, the Great Market was the Silk Market. In the narrow streets between Plaza Bib-Rambla and Plaza Nueva, Arabic silks and the rarest spices were sold at high prices. The name “Alcaicería” means “Caesar’s House”, a reminder that it was Emperor Justinian himself who authorized the Moors to trade in silk.
