12 must-see attractions in Andalucia

Malaga is also a city of culture and art, where you can visit several fascinating museums, such as Picasso’s birthplace, the Picasso Museum and the Pompidou Center.

If you want to enjoy the outdoors without leaving Malaga, I recommend the Montes Natural Park, located in the mountains about 5 km north of the city. This huge park covers nearly 5,000 hectares and is crisscrossed by more than 150 km of footpaths that you can explore on foot or by bike.

5) Marbella

Marbella Tours Andalucia

Once a small fishing village on the Costa del Sol, Marbella is now one of Spain’s most famous seaside resorts, and arguably the most luxurious. Marbella is one of Spain’s liveliest places to party and relax on the beach.

This is a little paradise on earth with a pleasant climate and a historic centre that still retains its amazing charm and typicality, with beautiful monuments and small flower-filled streets lined with white houses. The old town is surrounded by the walls of an 11th-century Arab castle and contains beautiful buildings such as the Church of Our Lady.

The city also has many tree-lined paths and green spaces, such as the Parc de la Alameda and the Parc La Constitucion, which are great places to relax in the shade on hot summer days.

Marbella is also a city of art, and you can visit the Museum of Contemporary Spanish Engraving, which houses works by great artists such as Picasso, Miró and Dalí. Salvador Dalí’s sculptures are also on open-air display on Avenida del Mar, close to the seafront promenade.

6) Cadiz

Visit Cadiz

Cadiz may be a lesser-known tourist destination compared to Seville, Granada and Cordoba, but one of the oldest cities in the Old World has a lot to offer.

Founded by the Phoenicians, Cadiz has a stunning old town where you can see many historical monuments, especially in and around the Plaza de San Juan de Dios. Don’t miss the Cadiz Roman Theatre, built in the 1st century BC, the magnificent Cadiz Cathedral with its mix of architectural styles, and the Tavira Tower, which offers a unique view over the Bay of Cadiz. The city center is easy to explore on foot, or you can take a guided tour of the city center.
