WHO supports Saudi Arabia’s Hajj Health Card scheme to improve health services for pilgrims worldwide

The global digital health certification network is based on a strong public key infrastructure cryptographic system that ensures the verifiability and security of health credentials, enabling national authorities and medical providers to trust health documents across borders while protecting individual privacy.

The initiative aims to enable a digital health future where people can carry internationally recognised health credentials, improving travel experiences and access to healthcare.

By joining the WHO certification network, countries can not only simplify administrative processes and improve border control efficiency, but also make medical visits smarter. This global network lays the foundation for long-term improvement of international health cooperation and is expected to support more application scenarios such as cross-border electronic prescriptions, insurance and telemedicine in the future.
