5 ways to screen pancreatic cancer and control the disease with the combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine

Lung deficiency can cause asthma in patients. American ginseng, astragalus, and almonds can be used to replenish qi and improve asthma symptoms. Studies have shown that American ginseng has anti-cancer activity, can promote apoptosis of cancer cells, protect normal cells from the side effects of anti-cancer drugs, and reduce cancer-related fatigue.

Spleen and stomach deficiency leads to indigestion, so we can use Chinese medicines such as malt, chicken gizzard lining, Shenqu, and Sijunzi decoction to help digestion. Studies have shown that melanoidins in malt can promote the growth of beneficial intestinal bacteria and have prebiotic properties.

Clinical Cases

Guo Shifang shared the following two treatment cases:

Case 1 Pancreatic cyst

Mr. Huang, 56 years old, has a drinking habit for many years and a history of pancreatitis. He had stomach pain 5 years ago, and a CT scan revealed a 3.5 cm cystic tumor in the head of the pancreas. The doctor at the time believed that if the tumor was larger than 3 cm and had a mucinous nature, it might become malignant, and recommended surgery. The patient was quite depressed at the time, and he refused surgery and agreed to receive Chinese medicine treatment while undergoing follow-up examinations by Western medicine. Chinese medicine diagnosed the patient as having spleen and kidney qi deficiency, and used Liuhe Decoction combined with Sangpiaoxie Powder, Chinese Yam, Shenqu, and Coix Seed to treat him. Western medicine has been following up for more than 5 years, and the patient’s condition has been stable, and the tumor has remained the same size.

Case 2: Pancreatic head adenocarcinoma

Ms. Huang, 66 years old, has a history of diabetes and was diagnosed with pancreatic head adenocarcinoma in 2020. Western medicine first performed pilot chemotherapy, and the patient received Chinese medicine conditioning at the same time. When the patient was first diagnosed, she had both qi and yin deficiency, and had symptoms of mild jaundice, easy diarrhea, numbness of hands and feet, anxiety, insomnia, and dry mouth. Chinese medicine used drugs such as Shenling Baizhu San, Dendrobium, Malt, Chicken Neijin, Shenqu, and Psoralea corylifolia in combination with Western medicine treatment. She then underwent surgery and used TS-1 chemotherapy drugs. Her condition has been stable so far, and the tumor index has also dropped to normal values. This is a successful case of combined Chinese and Western medicine.
